Here we have Carine Roitfeld, esteemed Editor-in-Chief of French Vogue and one of the world’s leaders in trend-setting, appearing in public sans son pantalon, as the French would say. This picture had us begging the question put best by nymag.com’s “The Cut”: “If Carine goes without pants, does that make it okay?” This is the very same question we asked ourselves when we first saw this photo, because although Lady Gaga and the S/S 2010 runways have been practically pushing the no-pants trend down our throats, we truly did not believe that it would ever become acceptable. And yet, here we have a woman who epitomizes French-chic (aka global-chic), seemingly pulling off the no-pants trend, in a lace bodysuit no less!!! *see previous posts about our obsession with lace. We think that Carine has officially opened the no-pants floodgates: where is this trend appropriate? Where might one buy an outfit that manages to work even without pants? What will our grandparents think?! The list goes on and on.
